Altus Public Schools Monitoring Gas Leak Near School Campuses
Altus Public Schools is closely monitoring a gas leak reported north of Altus Intermediate School and Altus Early Childhood Center.
District officials are working closely with the Altus Police Department and Altus Fire Department to monitor the situation and ensure the safety of students and staff.
At this time, winds are blowing away from both school campuses, and there is no indication of a threat to students or staff. School operations will continue as normal. District officials will remain in close communication with emergency responders and will continue to monitor conditions.
Motorists should be aware that traffic in the area is congested. Traffic on Falcon Road is being rerouted through the school zone, which may cause delays near Altus Intermediate School and Altus Early Childhood Center.
