On Monday night, Michael Shive joined the Altus Board of Education. He was elected to seat #4 on April 7th. Michael is an AHS graduate. He and his wife have raised four children in the Altus Public Schools system. We are thankful for his willingness to serve in this volunteer position.

Altus Public Schools, a 5A district in Southwest Oklahoma offering highly competitive coaching pay, is seeking a dynamic High School Head Pom Coach for the 2026–2027 school year. This position leads a program of student-athletes who perform at pep assemblies, football and basketball games, and compete in GameDay competitions.
The ideal candidate will be a dedicated leader committed to managing all aspects of the Pom squad, including choreography, technical training, and game-day performances, while fostering a culture of academic and athletic excellence. Responsibilities include creating choreography, overseeing program operations, and maintaining financial accounts. Candidates should have a strong dance background, the ability to motivate high-achieving students, and must meet all OSSAA coaching requirements.
