We received the all clear for Rivers Elementary School approximately 5:10 p.m. It is safe for our students, faculty and staff to resume school tomorrow. Rivers will be open tomorrow, Thursday, January 8, 2026 and will follow the normal daily schedule.

Mrs. McKenzie’s prek class learned about the “m” in STEAM. They sorted, counted and subtracted m&m’s today and had a great time learning! They also enjoyed getting to eat their m&m’s when they were finished.



Bulldogs, Late this afternoon a cut was made in the gas line at the construction site of the new elementary school on Altus Air Force Base. The gas line cannot be repaired before the start of school tomorrow, Wednesday, January 7. For the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff, Rivers Elementary will be closed on Wednesday, January 7. All other Altus Public Schools sites will be open and on a normal schedule. More students had fund wearing pajamas to school for the last day of the semester.


Mrs. Morgan’s 2nd graders recently enjoyed a variety of STEAM Lab activities with Mrs. Hamm.

Mrs. McKenzie’s PreK class had so much fun opening their gifts today! Thank you to those that supported our classroom with Kohl’s Cares Plushes and books.


Today our students were given cookies and hot chocolate as a gift from Bulldog Elf and Mrs Cook.










Students and teachers celebrated the upcoming break by wearing pajamas.










Ms Street and Ms Linda’s PreK class had a busy time with Mrs Hamm in the STEAM lab - the students coded, used magnetic tiles and tan grams and drew a mural!




Ms Street and Ms Linda's PreK class has been busy making Christmas cards for our military service members.

Rivers students celebrated today by wearing holiday sweaters.










Ms. Huckaby's 2nd grade class won 1st place in Friday’s spirit wear competition.
